Payment
Please sign in when you arrive (regardless of whether you are a member or getting a day pass).
Please pay before you play if you are not a member or your membership has expired. This applies to everyone, including players who take lessons or play outside the official hours. The Boston Table Tennis Club accepts only cash, Venmo, Zelle, and checks; credit cards are not accepted.
Expected Behavior
Please act courteously toward others while in the Boston Table Tennis Club.
Please do not smoke or bring alcoholic beverages into the Boston Table Tennis Club.
No food is permitted in the playing area. Drinks in spill-proof containers are acceptable.
Wet towels to clean your shoes are not permitted on the floor. Place them on a barrier (e.g., a plastic bag or dry towel) while playing.
If you need to change clothes before you play, please feel free to do so in the restroom.
You do not need to bring a partner. Most players come on their own and play with whoever shows up.
Please cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze.
Allocating Table Time
Please follow this system for allocating table time:
You may use any unused table and stay on the table as long as you wish if no other player signs up for the table on the whiteboard.
If you are waiting to play, please sign up on the whiteboard to add yourself to the queue for the table of your choice. You may not be playing on a table and also sign up on the whiteboard, nor may you sign up for more than one table. Please do not sign up for a table where the coach is giving a lesson. When you go to a table to play, please erase your name from the whiteboard.
If someone signs up for the table that you are using, please let them play in a reasonable amount of time, e.g., finish a match with the person that you are currently playing (e.g., the winner stays on the table to play with the next person) or practice for no more than fifteen minutes.
If you have played with three people in a row, please take a break and let other people play.
Equipment
Please bring table tennis shoes or sneakers. Black-soled shoes or shoes you have worn outdoors are not allowed on the playing floor.
Please bring your racket and ball. (The club has a few used rackets and balls at the front desk that we can lend to you if they are not already in use.)
For Coaches
If more than 2 people are waiting to play, lessons must be limited to 1 hour.
If all six tables are being played and at least two people are waiting to play, the coach should yield the table for 40 minutes at the end of the coaching session so that other people have a chance to play.
If more than two people are waiting to play, we can only reserve one table for coaching at a time.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 8 pm, Saturdays from 9 am, and Sundays from 12 pm to 6 pm, coaching must be by reservation only.
If all the tables are being played on, the coach must give lessons on the coaching tables, which are tables 3 and 6.
The coach is responsible for asking the student to sign in at the front desk before the lesson.
