Club Rules
Equipment
Please bring table tennis shoes or sneakers. Black-soled shoes or shoes you have worn outdoors are prohibited on the wood playing floor.
Please bring your racket and ball. (The club has a few used rackets at the desk that we can lend you if they are not already in use.)
Payment
Please sign in when you arrive (regardless of whether you are a member or getting a day pass).
Please pay before you play if you are not a member, or your membership has expired. This applies to everyone, including players taking lessons or playing outside the official hours. The Boston Table Tennis Club accepts only cash, Venmo, Zelle, and checks, no credit cards.
Expected Behavior
Please act courteously to others while in the Boston Table Tennis Club.
Please do not smoke or bring alcoholic beverages into the Boston Table Tennis Club.
No food is permitted in the playing area. Drinks in spill-proof containers are acceptable.
Wet towels to clean your shoes are not permitted directly on the wood floor. Place them on a barrier (e.g., a plastic bag or dry towel) while playing.
If you need to change clothes before you play, please feel free to do so in the restroom.
You do not need to bring a partner. Most players come by themselves and play with whoever shows up.
Allocating Table Time
Please follow this system for allocating table time:
You may use any unused table and stay on the table as long as you wish if no other player signs up for the table on the whiteboard.
If you are waiting to play, please sign up on the whiteboard to add yourself to the queue for the table of your choice. You may not be playing on a table and also signed up on the whiteboard, nor may you sign up for more than one table. Please do not sign up for a table where the coach is giving a lesson. When you go to a table to play, please erase your name from the whiteboard.
If someone signs up for the table that you are using, please let them play in a reasonable amount of time, e.g., finish a match with the person that you are currently playing (e.g., the winner stays on the table to play with the next person) or practice for no more than fifteen minutes.
If you have played with three people in a row who signed up for your table, please take a break and let other people play.
